Coverage Changes to Prioritize This Enrollment Season
Follow Up with Patients Who Lost Essential Plan Coverage

Essential Plan coverage for individuals with incomes above 200% and up to 250% of the federal poverty level ended in July 2026. The Essential Plan continues for other eligible New Yorkers.

Prioritize follow-up with affected patients whose coverage status is unknown or who remain uninsured. Open enrollment provides an opportunity to reassess eligibility and review coverage options, including Qualified Health Plans and available financial assistance.

Oscar Marketplace Enrollees Need a New Plan for 2027

Oscar Health will no longer participate in the NY State of Health Marketplace in 2027. Patients with Oscar Marketplace coverage will need to select another plan. When reviewing alternatives, compare provider networks, prescription coverage, premiums, and out-of-pocket costs.

Enrollment and Renewal Reminders

During enrollment assistance, confirm that contact information, income, and household details are current, and review notices for required follow-up. NY State of Health also encourages consumers to authorize its use of secure data sources to help verify eligibility and maintain enrollment automatically when possible.

To organize follow-up, use available renewal dates and coverage information to identify patients who may need assistance. Coordinate across outreach, eligibility, and clinical teams so coverage concerns identified during patient visits reach the appropriate staff.

CHCANYS partnered with New York State of Health (NYSOH) to develop a webinar session focused on New York State population data and enrollment trends into the Marketplace’s four public insurance plans: CHIP, Medicaid, the Essential Plan (EP) and Qualified Health Plan (QHP).
