pictureBorn and raised in the Bronx, Ms. Serena Muñiz managed to attend college full time as a single, teen mom. A feat within itself, Ms. Muñiz’s dedication to community, culture and diversity set the tone and became the catalyst for her genuine success.

With a full understanding of her talents and where they would be best served, Ms. Muñiz shifted career paths from fashion PR and parlayed her skills into community health care where she was tapped to lead an extraordinary team of fellow community advocates, grassroots outreach talents and build relationships with local, state and federal elected officials.

Currently, Ms. Muñiz is the Director of Government, Community Affairs and Communications for Union Community Health Center. Securing all levels of the Advocacy Center of Excellence (ACE) awards from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and receiving recognition for her work as a steering committee member of the Bronx Anti-Bullying Coalition by New York State Senator Gustavo Rivera, 33rd Senate district and Chair of the NYS Health Committee.

In her role, Ms. Muñiz has successfully helped implement a variety of health initiatives and programs; and maintains an active role in various task forces and community boards.  In 2022, Ms. Muñiz was appointed board member of Community Board 11 by Bronx Borough President, Vanessa L. Gibson and selected as Chairperson of the Bronx Community Board 11’s, Community Development and Budgetary Priorities and is also part of the Leadership Committee.  Ms. Muñiz also secured a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion certification in 2022 from E-Cornell, and continues to seek out opportunities for her beloved Bronx community, remaining actively involved and learning with each passing day.
