Our mission at Apicha Community Health Center is to provide high quality, equitable, whole person and culturally responsive care delivered in an inclusive and welcoming manner. Build and expand on our long tradition of care for AAPI, LGBTQ+ and persons living with HIV.

We are currently seeking a YMSM Project Coordinator for our Jackson Heights location.

Position Summary:  The YMSM Project Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the YMSM Project, utilizing high-impact prevention and the status neutral approach to achieve the goals of ending the epidemic.  This position will provide direct services, including recruitment of gay identified and non-gay identified Young Men of Color Who Have Sex with Men (YMCSM) between the ages of 18 to 29 and their partners regardless of race/ethnicity and HIV serostatus. This position will oversee the implementation of effective-behavioral interventions in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. This position will be responsible for linkage and navigation services for clients who are eligible for HIV medical care, and PrEP and PEP treatment.

 

Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree, with 1 year of full-time LGBT, health or HIV related work experience required, or High School/GED with 6 years of full-time of LGBT, health, or HIV related work experience; Privileged by the Director of Medicine or designee for HIV testing, gonorrhea and Chlamydia screening, within one month of hire; Ability to manage government contracts using excel spreadsheet required; Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends at high risk venues required; Ability to provide HV/ STI/ Hep C test required; Ability to reach and work at high-risk venues and carry out services; Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication in English required; Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing Skills preferred; Familiarity with federal, state and local regulations relevant to HIV/STI/Hepatitis screening and partner notification preferred; Ability to work with staff from diverse background preferred; Experience in supervising part-time and full-time staff preferred; Experience in working with one or more of the following groups is preferred: A&PI, immigrants, communities of color, LGBT, MSM, commercial sex worker, substance user, people living with HIV/AIDS; Ability use commonly used office software required: Word, Excel Power Point, Outlook. Experience with EMR preferred; Self motivated, outcome oriented, team player capable of effectively operating within an organizational structure.
