We are currently seeking a Health Counselor in our Manhattan location.

Position Summary: The Health Counselor is responsible for providing direct counseling and treatment education to assigned caseload of patients who are addicted to substances including crystal methamphetamine or any other mind/mood altering substances.

Qualifications:  High school diploma/GED with an active CASAC certification required within three (3) months of hire; A minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience with substance use, mentally ill, homeless or special needs population required. Experience may include verifiable internship and unpaid volunteer work; Strong socio-cultural identification with the target population or experience in working with target population strongly preferred; Appreciation of and commitment to Apicha’s mission and values; Excellent assessment, treatment planning, and problem-resolution skills are necessary; Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of EHR systems (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, eClinical Works); Excellent MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required; Excellent customer service skills to assist in resolving member complaints; Must possess ability to interact with all levels of external and internal customers with a high level of professionalism and tact in representing Apicha CHC; Strong verbal and written communication skills – for both internal and external audience; Fluency in Spanish or one of Asian languages preferred; Ability to work effectively in both a collaborative as well as individual setting; Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends required.
