Collaborating Docs is a nationwide physician-APP collaboration organization that matches nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants/associates (PAs) with vetted collaborating physicians across all 50 states. We manage the full compliance infrastructure supporting these relationships — including state-specific collaborative practice agreements (CPAs), regulatory tracking, and ongoing agreement maintenance — so that APPs can practice at the top of their license with confidence.
Our services address two critical workforce needs for health centers: (1) securing compliant physician collaboration for NPs and PAs who require it under state law, and (2) direct APP recruitment through our Hiring Services division, which connects health organizations with qualified NP and PA candidates actively seeking placement.
Through our Hiring Services division, we recruit and place nurse practitioners and physician assistants/associates in clinical roles across a range of practice settings, including primary care, behavioral health, and community health environments. Services include candidate sourcing, screening, and matching to client organizations based on specialty, location, and practice needs.
Collaborating Docs sits at a unique intersection of APP recruitment and regulatory compliance. Unlike general healthcare staffing firms, we specialize exclusively in nurse practitioners and PAs — meaning our candidate network, screening criteria, and placement expertise are purpose-built for APP roles.
Additionally, clients who engage our Hiring Services have seamless access to our collaboration infrastructure if the placed APP requires a collaborating physician relationship under state law, creating a true end-to-end solution from hire to compliant practice. This integrated capability is particularly valuable for CHCs operating in restricted or reduced-practice states.

Our process moves from intake through placement. We begin with a scoping conversation to define role requirements and organizational context, then conduct targeted outreach and sourcing within our APP network. Candidates are screened for clinical qualifications, licensure status, and fit before being presented to the client. We facilitate the introduction and coordinate through the hiring decision, with support available post-placement for any compliance infrastructure needs.
Engagements are scoped individually. We work with clients to understand role-specific requirements, patient population needs, state licensing and collaboration requirements, and organizational culture fit. Search parameters, outreach strategies, and candidate screening criteria are tailored accordingly.
We source through a maintained network of NP and PA professionals, targeted outreach, and direct referrals. Screening includes verification of active licensure, evaluation of clinical experience and specialty alignment, and assessment of practice setting fit.
