CHCANYS Trauma Informed Care & Wellness Lunch Room Meetup

Wednesday, December 8th 12:00 pm -
1:00 pm

Community Health Centers (CHCs) have always been a place of healing and caring for the community. Over these past 13 months, CHCs have struggled and persevered through the challenges of the dual pandemics. Trauma has also unfolded during these unprecedented times in many forms, across the world, nation, our communities, and all our lives. Studies have shown that histories of trauma affect clinical outcomes, admissions, readmissions, and total cost of care. Trauma also affects staff satisfaction, burnout and moral distress, and staff turnover. Now, more than ever, there is a need for CHCs to provide deliberate trauma-informed services, training, and support across all levels of your CHC.

To support CHCs in building workforce capacity on the trauma-informed approach, CHCANYS is excited to be launching the TIC & Wellness Lunch Room Meetup, a monthly 8-part virtual meetup on the second Wednesday of the month starting on May 12 - December 8 from 12:00-1:00 PM. The meetups will highlight the benefits and nuances of providing intentional TIC at your CHC to both staff and patients. In September, there will be two opportunities to attend a TIC meetup focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (September 14 at 10:00 am and September 16 at 1:00 pm).
During the meetups, Subject Matter Experts from The University at Buffalo’s Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care (ITTIC)Texas Association of Community Health Centers (TACHC), and Kinshift will provide an overview of the TIC approaches and share promising practices that can support the health center workforce and enhance patients’ access to high-quality care.

In addition, CHCANYS will be hosting the Community Care Corner which is comprised of short live sessions and recordings to support and encourage the workforce's emotional wellness. All staff participating in the Lunch Room Meetup will have access to the Community Care Corner's TIC 'TLC' resources. If you are interested in only attending the Community Care Corner, please CLICK HERE to register.

Audience: All Health Center Staff (clinical and non-clinical)
