Vaccine Myths

Dr. Denise Benkel of the Bureau of Immunization at NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene joined the CHCANYS Nursing Subcommittee for a presentation on vaccine myths and addressing parental concern about immunization safety. Dr. Benkel shared a brief history of vaccines as a public health accomplishment, information on the pervasiveness of vaccine hesitancy, eleven specific myths attributed to vaccines, and strategies for how to handle resistance.
