Expanding Nutrition Services (ENS) Grant Applications Due 9/9
HRSA has released applications for the Fiscal Year 2027 Expanding Nutrition Services grant opportunity (HRSA-27-099). This funding will support health centers in expanding access to nutrition services.
THE OPPORTUNITY
HRSA has opened the application for the Expanding Nutrition Services grant, an initiative to increase access to nutrition services at HRSA-funded health centers. Additional application information can be found on HRSA’s website, and the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) and application portal are available on Grants.gov.
HRSA is making $125,000,000 in grants available to 357 health centers to help increase the number of nutrition services patients or visits. Awards will be $350,000 and will cover a 2-year period of performance from December 1, 2026, to November 30, 2028.

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be a Health Center Program award recipient with an active H80 grant award and propose a project that increases the number of nutrition services patients or visits. Awarded health centers must add nutrition services to their scope of project within 120 days of award if they are not already providing them.
GRANT OPPORTUNITY
Grant funds must be used to increase the number of nutrition services patients or visits. Nutrition services may include nutritional assessments, patient education and counseling on healthy eating, Medical Nutrition Therapy, nutrition instruction, and weight management programs. Funds may not be used for basic nutrition recommendations made during general primary care visits or for connecting patients to food assistance programs such as SNAP or WIC.
Projects can involve personnel such as nutritionists, dietitians, health educators, care coordinators, and community health workers. Projects may also include patient support services, such as case management, outreach, and organizational partnerships, to successfully deliver nutrition services. Examples of allowable costs are available in Appendix B of the NOFO.
