Director, Business Strategy



The Director, Business Strategy is a key member of the CHCANYS team, which serves New York State’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), the Director works closely with the CSO, project team members, and senior leaders to help deliver major organizational projects efficiently. The Director, in collaboration with the CSO, ensures alignment of CHCANYS’ business and operational model across the organization. The Director must possess excellent communication skills; the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships - technical and logistical, coordinate large amounts of information and data, meet hard deadlines; and have a creative and entrepreneurial mindset to support growth and expansion of the organization. The successful candidate will demonstrate successful past experiences in the areas of collaboration, strategic thinking, planning, and execution. The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000.


· Implement new business initiatives and development plans

· Determine a needs assessment process

· Conduct data and business case analyses

· Evaluate results during each phase of a new business initiative

· Disseminate data, information, and reports to project teams

· Serve as point of contact across the organization and various working groups for new business initiatives

· Create marketing plans and product and sales development

· Create and manage projects (i.e., timeframes, deliverables, key indicators, and outcomes)

· Establish project schedules with milestones, deadlines, and estimates for required materials and other resources (e.g., team members) for management approval

· Develop summary reports and presentations for the organization’s leadership team as they relate to new business initiatives

· Assess resource allocation requirements to meet or further initiatives

· Build network for potential partnerships in future business development projects

· Research emerging trends and maintain current knowledge of business industry best practices

· Develop and manage strategic partnerships.


· Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of professional experience in a related field, preferably including project management and planning. Master’s degree in business preferred.

· Interest in community health and primary care practice environments. Experience in or with an FQHC or primary care practice/healthcare a plus.

· Outstanding interpersonal, communications (verbal/written), presentation and training/meeting facilitation skills. Solid background in relationship building, research, and data analysis. Ability to motivate and drive change.

· Ability to multi-task, manage, organize, and coordinate various activities, and work effectively as a team member and with a diverse population.

· High degree of technical competence, independence, flexibility, initiative, commitment with attention to details, and a focus on quality work. Demonstrated awareness and value of cultural competence.

· Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with software tools for data analysis, presentations, and online collaboration (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Conference). Background with Salesforce, Microsoft Power Bi, reporting and data visualization software preferred.

· Occasional travel within the Greater New York City region and throughout the state, as required (when pandemic restrictions are lifted).
