Clinician Educator, Adult Medicine

Full-Time Base Salary: $180,000 - $220,000 per year. Additional quality bonus and incentive-based pay structure after minimum productive target is met.

The Clinician Educator, Adult Medicine, is responsible for providing excellent evidence-based primary care and, teach and supervise nurse practitioners in an urban practice noted for quality and advancing health equity. The incumbent will have protected time for teaching and supervision, provide holistic care, coordinate with specialists, and teach staff at different educational levels. In addition, the opportunity to create new curricula, teaching methods, and link to educational programs. There will be no in-patient responsibility, rotating schedule for after-hours phone coverage, weekends required at weekend pay rate.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the medical care of a panel of adult patients
  • Supervise and teach nurse practitioners, nursing staff and medical students
  • Create curriculum content, hold case conference and teaching discussions
  • Work with Chiefs and Director of Medical Education to set educational goals and timelines
  • Work closely with the care team to optimize the health of patients, provide preventive care, diagnose and treat chronic and acute illnesses
  • Participate in all activities necessary to optimize care by the multi-disciplinary team
  • Participate in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities of the Health Center and the Internal Medicine service to improve the health care of patients, including peer review, medical and regulatory education, and risk management training
  • Meet minimum productivity targets
  • Maintain medical privileges and credentialing
  • Obtain and maintain privileges at a local hospital
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and licensed to practice in New York State
  • Certification or eligible for certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Family Medicine,  American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians
  • Experience teaching students, residents or nurse practitioners
  • Knowledge of a second language (such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, Korean, Spanish or other languages) preferred
