In the United States, more than 1.7 million individuals are living with HIV/AIDS and roughly one in five living with HIV is unaware of their infection. Since the first reported case in June 1981, the HIV epidemic has seen a decline in various trends especially that of AIDS cases and deaths which can be attributed, in part, to the wide range of innovative health care and supportive services for people living with HIV.
