CHCANYS Health Information Technology (Health IT) Program
The CHCANYS Health Information Technology (Health IT) Program supports community health centers throughout New York State in improving Health IT adoption and use, facilitating access to state-of-the-art technology that supports the successful delivery of high quality, cost-effective primary health care for medically underserved populations.
CHCANYS’ Statewide HIT Program was launched in the fall of 2010, as an expansion of the NYC-based Primary Care Health Information Consortium (PCHIC). PCHIC operated from 2005-2010 as a source of technical assistance, training, peer learning, advocacy and fund development for NYC-based FQHCs. The Statewide Health IT Program has continued and expanded these services, becoming known and respected at local, state and national levels, communicating regularly on behalf of our members with Health IT leadership at CMS; HRSA, BPHC; NY State DOH; NYC DOHMH; the New York eHealth Collaborative; NACHC; and PCA colleagues across the country.
The Health IT Program offers the following:
Access to a highly qualified and industry-recognized team of professionals with the ability to support community health centers in improving HIT capacity
Professional Solutions to enhance electronic health record (EHR) implementation and use through project management, training and communication
Professional Solutions in Technology to assist with all facets of IT infrastructure, network, privacy and security, and health IT project management needs
The Center for Primary Care Informatics (CPCI), a Web-based, centralized data warehouse, reporting, and analytics solution designed specifically for community health centers
Targeted support to achieve Meaningful Use, Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), and Clinical Quality Improvement through optimization of Health IT
Fund development from public and private sources to ensure that community health centers have the financial resources to benefit from the latest developments in Health IT
A strong communications interface to facilitate inclusion in the larger health care HIT environment at local, state, and federal levels
Evaluation and replication of best practice models in effective HIT implementation and enhanced patient-centered care
Peer-to-peer information sharing through HIT communication forums
