CHCANYS Community HealthCorps aims to have a team of members that are diverse in their ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, education, age and gender. HealthCorps members include individuals receiving public assistance, unemployed persons, college graduates, high school graduates, and those who have not yet completed high school but would like to continue their education. Health and social service professionals are sought as well, and all members have a strong desire to give a year of service to health center patients and communities. Experience in public health or community service is a plus, but not a requirement. Spanish speaking applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Members Benefits
HealthCorps members, many of whom come from the communities served by the participating health centers, greatly benefit from the program. By providing outreach and support services for low-income families served by community, migrant, and homeless health centers, members are exposed to a range of health career roles dedicated to improving the health status of hard-to-reach populations.
