SAM - Mobile Patient Service Associate, New York Children's Health Project in the Bronx
Hometown: Queens, NY
Why do you aspire to serve?
I am very grateful to be in the situation that I am in, so I chose to serve Americorps as a way of paying it forward. There are so many people in my hometown of NYC who deserve the same opportunities that I received and it is my goal to do whatever is necessary to improve their quality of life.
Share a favorite hobby/hobbies or interest of yours.
One of my favorite things to do is attend concerts and music festivals. Music is one of the few things that truly know no boundaries as it extends across every culture. When I go to shows, I feel that I am witnessing music in its purest form.
What are your plans after your year of service?
After serving in the Community Healthcorps, I have decided to pursue a career in the field of health administration. I work closely with wonderful administrators at my site who have been a great inspiration to me and have helped me realize my potential in the field. Next year, I will hopefully enroll in a Masters in Public Health program that will give me tools to succeed in the industry.
