CDC Innovations Grant to Advance Population-Based Cancer Screening & Treatment:
CHCANYS is partnering with New York State Department of Health and IPRO, New York’s Quality Improvement Organization, in a 5-year CDC grant to improve cancer screening and treatment at 47 FQHCs. This is the largest grant that CHCANYS has ever received. Funding will support CHCANYS Health IT and QI staff conducting the project and will support interface to the CPCI for 47 health centers in total.
The grant program uses CHCANYS’ data warehouse solution, the Center for Primary Care Informatics, as the core of a cancer registry for FQHCs to measure performance on cancer screening, follow-up and treatment metrics. The cancer registry is known as the NYS Cancer Prevention Registry of the CHCANYS Center for Primary Care Informatics.
CHCANYS Quality Improvement staff are providing technical assistance to health centers to build a QI program to improve quality of care, as reflected in the metrics.
