Position Description:

Associate Vice President of Grant Development

Hudson River HealthCare, Inc. (HRHCare), a not-for-profit community and migrant health center serving 180,000 patients annually from throughout an eleven-county region of southeastern New York State, is seeking an Associate V.P. of Grant Development to join the dynamic Grant Department in our Peekskill, NY administrative offices. Under the supervision of the V.P. of Grant Planning and Development, this position will be an integral member of the Grants Team which annually secures $20M-$50M to support the mission of the Health Center to increase access to comprehensive primary and preventive health care, and to improve the health status of our community, especially for the underserved and vulnerable. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,

  • working with VP of Grants and Executive Leadership to identify Health Center program, operational, and capital needs, and research grant opportunities responsive to those needs.
  • with guidance from VP of Grants, working with key program and finance staff to understand program, staffing, and facility needs, and frame application proposals and budgets.
  • with VP of Grants, cultivating relationships with funders and potential funders
  • working with Grants Team to write, edit, and coordinate activities related to producing and submitting grant proposals, ensuring timely production of related forms, attachments and correspondence, as well as reports
  • reading/reviewing requests for proposals (RFPs/RFAs) from government, foundation and corporation funding sources; assessing HRHCare eligibility, appropriateness & alignment of HRHCare priorities with those of funding/funder; and summarizing opportunity for review
  • researching/collecting/critically analyzing data to support needs assessments and funding requests

 Qualifications

Individual must have at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; preferably five or more years of grant writing experience; knowledge of health care and public health, particularly special populations and high-risk groups. Must have:

  • demonstrated competence in working cooperatively as a committed team player, as well as independently
  • willingness to accept and utilize guidance
  • good work ethic
  • excellent understanding of grammar / syntax / correct usage
  • keen attention to detail, formatting, consistency and adherence to grant application instructions
  • good follow up and follow through
  • excellent communication skills
  • comfort with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, the Internet & various web-based applications.

Should be self-motivated, organized, efficient, flexible, culturally competent and sensitive, and able to maintain confidentiality.
