Position Description:

Position Title:   Family Medicine Physician

Reports to:   Chief Medical Officer

FSLA:  Exempt

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary care to adult, pediatrics and/or prenatal patients; asses and manage chronic conditions including HIV infection, STDs, Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, Hypercholesterolemia, Hepatitis B and C, in addition to acute infections/problems.
  • Perform basic mental health assessments and treatment of non-emergent conditions such as anxiety and depression
  • Evaluate patients in a timely manner
  • Experience working with different communities of color and LGBTQ individuals.
  • Evaluate patients in a clinic setting 5 days a week. May involve rotating Saturday hours
  • Night and weekend call shared among clinicians
  • Charting in EMR (eCW) and completing required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Practice medical care within the scope of license, training and credentials and in accordance with current standards of care and quality criteria adopted by the clinic and the NYSDOHAI
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team; attend team/clinic/Agency meetings
  • Serve as mentor to less Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants
  • Participate in pre-visit planning activities with the other members of the care team
  • Participates in clinic-wide Continuous Quality Improvement program and PEER Review
  • Practice safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods
  • Alerts Chief Medical Officer/designee of Medico-legal risk situations, and work to reduce same
  • Participates in appropriate maintenance of certification/continuing medical education
  • Participate in patient education/outreach activities
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient care and agency operations at all times
  • Advise management on performance deficiencies of ancillary medical personnel
  • Work with support and administrative staff in a positive, constructive manner
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited US Medical School
  • Completion of residency training in Family Medicine, or Med/Peds
  • Board Certification in IM, FP, Peds (if Med/Peds)
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in NY
  • Current DEA certificate without restriction
  • BLS
  • Knowledge of HIV medical care;
  • Ability to use common office software
  • Ability to use electronic medical record for patient care
  • Must have good human relations and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of an Asian language or Spanish preferred
  • Knowledge of Transgender health care principles preferred
  • Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season) and testing for tuberculosis is required.  These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
