The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is currently recruiting well-qualified candidates with at least 1 year of demonstrated general dental services delivery in a healthcare setting, preferably in a health center, to fill the following position:
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Dentist is primarily responsible for providing comprehensive dental care with an emphasis on primary preventative services and delivers high quality treatment of disease and/or injuries. He/she diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, and related oral structures by performing the following duties to fulfill the following responsibilities in a high volume, multi-specialty practice Federally Qualified Health Center:
Evaluates the patient’s total dental care needs and provide personal dental care;
Performs physical assessment by interviewing, recording and interpreting medical, dental, and social history of the patient;
Orders diagnostic or therapeutic procedures or lab testing;
Develops an accurate identification of patients’ health problems based upon correct interpretation of findings;
Records findings, lab and/or diagnostic results, and existing dental records;
Develops, implements, and coordinates all aspects of a dental care plan for each individual;
Manages the plan of care by monitoring the patient’s response to the therapeutic regimen, recording the patient’s process, and counseling if needed;
Initiates referrals, when needed, to other health care providers and/or consulting physicians or dentist, offering counseling when needed, and documents all information regarding referral in the medical chart;
Coordinate all aspects of patient care, including discharge and follow-up care plans;
Facilitates interaction and cooperation among providers/staff involved in the planning and provision of dental care; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:
A graduate from an accredited dental school. Must have a valid New York State Dental License, CDS, and DEA. license. At least 1 year of professional clinical dental experience in practicing dentistry, 2 to 4 years of experience is preferred. Strong computer skills is required, knowledge of ECllinicalWorks and Open Dental is a plus. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends. Authoritative knowledge of the practice and techniques of dentistry as a general practitioner in a community health center is highly desirable. The candidate selected for this position would be in a part-time employee status. Bilingual ability is preferred.
