Responsibilities: Work in conjunction with the Human Resources department in recruitment, hiring, monitoring competency, and supervise nursing staff, Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants. Coordinate schedules and authorize vacations, continuing medical education and other leaves of absence for these staff. Oversee quality assurance activities regarding nursing and other clinical services. Participate in program development activities, including program planning, proposal writing and interactions with funders and regulation agencies. Provide clinical nursing services. Triage, monitor, record and report symptoms and changes in patients’ condition. Administer drugs, immunizations, medical devices or other forms of treatment. Such as; physical therapy, inhalation therapy or related therapeutic procedures as needed. Provide periodic evaluation of nursing staff performance and competency in accordance with personnel manual. Review and, if necessary, review relevant policies and procedures on at least an annual basis. Ensure that staff is aware of and adhere to the Center’s policies. Maintain all licensure requirements. Adhere to the Center’s clinical protocols and other standards of professional conduct. Participate in continuing education to maintain a solid knowledge base through in-service presentations at Boriken of other institutions and through formal continuing education activities. Perform other functions necessary for the proper care of patients and functioning of the Center.
Qualifications: Current New York State Registered Nurse License, CPR certification, Infection Control certification, excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. At least two (2) years of supervisory experience, knowledge of general nursing theory, practice, methods and techniques involved in the performance of general nursing services. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
