Position Description:

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

The Addabbo Family Health Center is a federally qualified community health center that provides a wide range of comprehensive family healthcare services to the poor, medically indigent and underserved residents in the county of Queens, NY, with facilities in Far Rockaway, Southeast Queens and Brooklyn and headquarters in Arverne, NY. Today the Center offers basic clinical services such as Adult Medicine, Dental, Pediatric, and Ob/GYN as well as a host of specialty clinics that include allergy/asthma, endocrinology/diabetes and chronic disease management, infectious disease and hepatitis, ophthalmology, podiatry, urology, and physical therapy/psychiatric care, free HIV testing and counseling and pregnancy testing. In addition, the Center provides on-site laboratories and pharmacies that provide low-cost prescriptions. The Center employs more than 350 employees and has annual operating budget of approximately $32 million.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Human Resources reporting to and partnering with the Chief Executive Officer will play a critical role in developing and implementing a human resources management strategy for the Center. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of HR will work collaboratively with other senior team members and serve as an advisor and expert on all human resources matters and affairs of the organization, including human capital management planning that supports the overall growth and sustainability of the Center delivered by virtue of an engaged workforce.  

 The Director of Human Resources is a highly strategic and visionary leader and practitioner with exceptional competencies and experience in managing the human capital management affairs and activities of an established health-centered and services-driven facility. The Director of HR will not only provide oversight, but must have a roll-up-your sleeves philosophy to engage in routine responsibilities that includes human resources management and administration and payroll, employee relations, recruitment, performance management and training and development. The Director of HR balances supporting and advocating for staff with protecting the organization and managing risk in both a union and non-union environment. This position leads a human resources team and assists in the development and evaluation of agency-wide people and patient-focused programs, service offerings and new initiatives and recommends strategic approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements. The Director of HR ensures that HR practices and strategies deliver required results and are aligned with business objectives that champion a patient-focused work culture and environment.

 

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or other related discipline; advanced degree in organizational development and or professional human resources certification highly desirable and a minimum of seven (7) years of human resource management experience, including three (3) years in an HR Director or HR Manager role with supervisory responsibilities. SHRM/HRCI Certification and experience managing and delivering human resources management in a union/non-union federally qualified healthcare agency and social services environment, and proven leadership and strategic approach with a solid track record of successfully implementing human resources programs and initiatives and demonstrated strategic planning and business process development and refinement experience.
