Seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner- responsible for diagnosing psychiatric illness and implementing pharmacological treatment. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works closely with the Psychiatrist and CMO to ensure provision of quality service.
identifying a psychiatric disorder and formulate a treatment plan;
assessment of mental disorders and prescription of psychotropic medication;
on-going will monitor the efficacy of medication, use, dosage, toxicity and adverse reactions;
monitoring automatic involuntary movement disorders (aims testing);
educate patients and families on the risks and benefits of medication;
orders therapeutic labs and evaluates data;
participates in the Human Rights Committees;
confers with professional staff and other agencies/providers regarding care and treatment for patients receiving psychiatric service;
monitoring extra-pyramidal symptoms (EPS testing) and other side effects of psychotropic meds.
Nursing degree conferred by an accredited college or university required.
Masters degree in psychiatric mental health nursing.
New York State licensure required.
24 Continued Medical Education (CME) credits per credentialing cycle (2 years).
Healthcare Provider CPR/AED Certification.
Strong oral, written, and organizational skills required.
National Provider Identifier.
RNP – National Certification.
Bi-lingual preferred (English/Spanish).
