Morris Heights Health Center (MHHC) is seeking a seasoned Grant Accountant to be responsible for financial reports and data for government grant administration, ensuring that the agency is in compliance with all applicable funding source guidelines. The Grant Accountant will manage all financial reporting requirements related to several federal, state, and local funding agencies. This position requires excellent communication skills, as this Accountant will work with Program Directors, Development Staff External Auditors and Government Agency Representatives regarding grant budgets and allowable expenditures.
•Work with Development Staff and Program Directors to prepare budget-related materials and supporting documentation required for submission of federal and state government grant proposals, funding renewals and budget modifications
•Prepare monthly journal entries for all federal and state grant related activity; prepare reconciliations of grant activity to general ledger balances
•Prepare monthly or quarterly invoices/expense reports for all funding agencies as necessary
•Prepare audit worksheets, schedules and supporting documentation to be used during federal and/or state external grant audits; respond to inquiries and requests from funding agencies in a timely manner
•Monitor budgets & actual expenditures; coordinate with Program Directors to ensure grant accounting expenditures are consistent with budgets throughout grant/funding period
•Attend relevant trainings and stay abreast of developments in federal and state funding regulations in order to ensure that MHHC remains compliant with applicable guidelines
•Performs grant-related pre and post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, reconciliations, and budget modifications •Performs grant-related pre and post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, reconciliations, and budget modifications
•Recommend and implement general accounting and grants management improvments
•Assist with year-end close and preparing schedules for annual audit
•Handle other related functions as necessary
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required; Master’s Degree preferred; The successful candidate will have 5 to 7 years of accounting, auditing or financial reporting in healthcare along with 3 years in grant accounting; Advanced knowledge of MS Excel; Superior demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, attention to detail and communication skills are essential
