Morris Heights Health Center (MHHC) is seeking an experienced Internist to provide clinical support and leadership to our Adult Medicine Department. The Medical Director will be responsible for the direction and coordination of clinical operations in a primary care setting. The incumbent will demonstrate proficiency in practice, planning and self-direction in building the Adult Medicine Practice. The Medical Director will work in conjunction with the Practice Manager and Director of Nursing to oversee the daily operations of the clinic and will be the supervise Internal Medicine providers. This position will be 80% clinical and 20% administrative/management. The Medical Director will participate in strategic and operational planning, establish productivity targets, and monitor performance measures. The Medical Director will demonstrate a high level of flexibility and commitment to meet the needs of a complex evolving patient care system and will advocate for quality patient care.
Provides clinical direction and coordination for Adult Medicine services in collaboration with the Operations Leadership, ensuring that services are rendered in accordance with acceptable Internal Medicine standards
Provides primary medical care within the standard of care for Internal Medicine patient resources; consults with specialists regarding patient referrals; assists in providing adequate and appropriate medical information during the provision of specialist care
Assist with the development of Adult Medicine policies and procedures and conducts chart audits to assure compliance
Periodically reviews the Medical Policies and Procedures Manual and recommends updates through memoranda to Administration
Ensure new staff are trained and oriented to Morris Heights Health Center
Oversees the chart audit process for collaborative Nurse practitioner/Physician Assistant and maintains a peer review process
Adheres and supports the medical staff by laws, Joint Commission / HRSA standards, state and federal guidelines as per the agency’s needs
Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Medical degree from a medical college approved by the American Medical Association
Completed internship and residency training from an approved medical facility
Board certified or board eligible by specialty board
Previous management and leadership experience in a primary care setting is required
Focused on collaborative team-based care
Passionate about providing high quality care to low-income, underserved residents and those lacking access to health care
Spanish language skills are very useful
