The Office of School Health (OSH) is a joint Program of the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene responsible for promoting the health of over one (1) million school children enrolled in approximately 1,700 public and non 'public schools in the New York City. Services to students include case management of chronic health problems, preventive health screening, urgent care, medication administration, preventive counseling, health education, referral for care and assurance of ongoing effective treatment.
The School Mental Health Consultant Supervisor is responsible for supervising 10 School Mental Health Consultants in the day-to-day operations of and provides overall leadership to implement and monitor the School Mental Health Consultant Program.
•Provides administrative and clinical supervision and direction to staff, including on-site observation, school visits and weekly staff meetings.
•Collaborate with school administration and staff on needs of students, families and school community.
•Integrate into and engage with school culture through development of positive relationships with school community.
•Attend school-based meetings and school-wide events as needed.
•Support students and families in crisis when called upon.
•Prepares and maintains regular activity documentation and statistical reports on a timely basis in accordance with program requirements.
•Orients all new staff to the policies and procedures of the program.
•Represents program by serving on committees related to child and mental health in the DOE.
•Collaborates with SMHC Program members in formulating clinical and administrative policies and procedures, implementing and maintaining established policies and procedures, and proposing modifications and revisions of policies and procedures, as indicated.
•Identifies intra-team problems and recommends solutions, including counseling of team members.
•Serves as program liaison to other community agencies, negotiating formal liaison and organizing consultation and education for referral sources.
•Assists with development and implementation of in-service training components.
Minimum Qual Requirements
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, and either:
1. A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university in the school of social work, or 60 graduate semester credits from an accredited university in social work, psychology, health, rehabilitation, public health, psychiatric nursing or special education; plus one year of full-time, satisfactory experience providing direct care in a social, psychiatric, health, mental retardation/developmental disabilities or substance abuse/chemical dependency/alcoholism agency or in the administration of a program providing direct care as described above, or as a consultant on program planning or evaluation for such services; or
2. A Master's degree of at least 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited university in psychology, sociology, anthropology, public health, special education, psychiatric nursing, counseling, human services, health, rehabilitation, public administration, or business administration; plus two years of experience as described in "1" above.
•Licensed Master of Social Worker/Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LMSW, LCSW), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) required.
•Master’s degree in Social Work after successfully completing a prescribed course of study at a graduate school of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and the Education Dept. and who is certified or licensed by the Education Dept. to practice Social Work in New York State. At least three years’ experience supervising social work, counselors, or related field.
•At least 3 years in a supervisory role in same or related field.
•At least one year’s experience in school setting, strong experience working with students and families.
•Work with fidelity to model while also being able to implement model according to specific school needs.
•Interest in and comfort with working with data to inform practice.
•Work in fast-paced environment, flexible and can-do attitude.
--Master's level training in a human service field, with specific training & experience in child development, common child psychiatric disorders, and mental health education & prevention
--Ability to work effectively with school principals, professionals and other personnel from a wide range of social institutions and organizations; solution oriented to work in multi-systems and ability to be flexible, multi-tasker, and supporter of cross systems work.
--Candidates will have experience working in a school setting and familiar with NYC DOE
--Knowledge of Excel, Word, and Power Point; ability to travel five boroughs.

Compensation Range: $ 64,510.00 - $ 89,008.00
