Addiction is a multifaceted and chronic disease requiring integrated resources to manage. This physician role will have direct practice responsibilities for an integrated Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) clinics located in Long Island City, NY, Brooklyn, NY and Queens, NY.
This is a good opportunity for addiction specialists to help create a brand new role in a well-established organization that has an excellent reputation for meeting the primary care needs of adults with co-occurring substance and chronic health conditions. Becoming a member of the Damian addiction services team will provide an opportunity to lead and develop the programmatic development of addiction services. Damian Family Care Centers, Inc. is a not-for-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center with primary care centers located in Bronx, Brooklyn, Jamaica, Manhattan, Long Island and Upstate, New York. Damian is proud to be a patient-centered medical home that is relationship based with an orientation toward the whole person.
Positions are full time with on-call responsibility. May be required to work evenings and weekends. Hours are flexible. Positions report to the Addiction Medicine Medical Director.
Provideoutstanding care to our patients. Day-to-day, this might mean providing medication Suboxone and Vivitrol services (after you become certified), delivering Medication Assistance Therapy (MAT), conducting physical examinations, adjusting or terminating medication dosages (through the use of responsible and ethical discretion), providing crisis intervention for medical and psychiatric emergencies, assessing a patient’s physiological opiate dependency and need for hospitalization.
Strengthening internal processes and procedures. You’ll help to plan and develop medical policies, verify the appropriateness of intake documentation, approve initial needs assessments and treatment plans, review and resolve all accidents/incidents related to patient care, attend weekly meetings to discuss preventative treatment measures and patient wellness, share in planning with the management team, and provide reports to the program director with your recommendations for the medical services.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Graduated from an accredited medical school.
Current unrestricted NYS medical license.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine and or Psychiatry required. Must hold at least one of the following: Addiction certification from Addiction Board of Preventative Medicine or certification by American Board of Addiction Medicine.
Active DEA with DATA 2000 waiver.
Qualified by training, education, and experience in providing medical care and assessment, to chemically addicted residents and residents withdrawing from alcohol and or drugs; medical and medication management of addiction including medical detoxification.
Current certification in CPR and Infection Control.
Knowledge about federal and state regulations governing medical/clinical treatment in residential or ambulatory substance abuse treatment programs helpful.
Will meet all the credentialing requirements as stated in the Medical/Dental staff By-Laws and the credentialing processes of DFCC.
Experience with EHR.
