The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides well and acute/chronic care to patients in a primary care setting within the scope of their specialty. The NP is responsible for complete evaluation and documentation of the health status of his/her patients. The NP has a physician collaborator to support him/her as they provide this care. The NP participates in the Health Center on-call system where he/she will take the calls of patients/parents and when necessary refer to the pediatrician on-call or the emergency room. The NP is involved in the education of patients and families. The NP will practice to the full scope of his/her license to provide care to a diverse population.
Current NYS Certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner or family nurse practitioner.
Current NYS licensure as a registered nurse.
Desirable (not required) current nurse practitioner certification by a national certifying body.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Positive attitude, is adaptable to change, and is a resourceful problem solver.
