ADOLESCENT MEDICINE – FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER OR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Morris Heights Health Center (MHHC) is seeking dynamic and energetic Family Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants to join our new Adolescent Medicine Clinic. The incumbent will support the Medical Director in expanding the Adolescent Program and implementing practice models for effective adolescent clinical care.
Provides medical treatment and advice to adolescents and young adults including family planning and office gynecology. Elicits history, examines patients, order, performs and interpret laboratory and x-ray examinations, diagnoses and performs or order necessary treatment
Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles and documents patient medical data, including personal and family health history and results of physical examination
Provides family planning services such as contraceptive counseling, prescription and dispensing of contraception and performs reproductive health procedures such as contraceptive implant or IUD insertion and removal
Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, wound care, and managing infection
Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance
The incumbent acts on his or her own judgment to provide medical services to individuals.
Makes physical assessments, diagnosis and initiates plan for treatment including prescription medication as approved by existing state law
Manages chronic health problems
Provides emergency treatment as appropriate and necessary
Promotes continuity of patient care by relevant counseling guidance, health instruction follow-up visits or telephone contact
Recognizes mental deviation from normal; initiates arrangements for treatment of psychiatric and psychosocial problems
Participates in the development of protocols and performance improvement procedures
Provides needed administrative and program planning assistance to the Medical Director
Graduate from an approved Nurse Practitioner Program and Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) OR Graduate from an approved Physician’s Assistant Program and Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Board certified or board eligible by specialty board
Strong interest in working with the adolescent population
Focused on collaborative team-based care
Bilingual English / Spanish is a PLUS
